By downloading, installing, or using Jagruti ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Jagruti is a Telugu Samayam (Hindu calendar timings) application that provides astronomical/astrological calculations — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, rashi, masa, muhurta timings, Rahu Kalam and related kalas, and similar traditional calendar information — along with an alarm and personal event reminder tool.
The App ships with samayam data calculated in advance for a specific range of years and a specific list of locations, bundled directly into the App. For locations or years beyond what's bundled, the App can download additional data from Jagruti's own cloud service — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that involves. This happens automatically in the background for locations you're actively using (so the App keeps working as your device's date moves forward, without requiring an app update just to extend the date range), and with your confirmation when you pick a location not already on your device. This requires an internet connection; without one, the App still works fully for whatever data is already on your device.
Jagruti's cloud service itself has a finite prepared range (currently through 2030) and a finite list of locations. If your device's date moves past that range, or you need a location the cloud service doesn't have, samayam data will no longer be available for that date/location until we extend the cloud service's own coverage — there is no guarantee of a specific schedule for that. Alarms, event reminders, and the Search by Date & Time feature are similarly limited to dates within whatever range is actually available (bundled or downloaded) at the time.
These calculations, including but not limited to tithi, nakshatra, muhurta timings, Rahu Kalam, and related kalas, are computed using established astronomical formulas and traditional calculation conventions. While we make a genuine effort to keep these calculations accurate and consistent with recognized traditions, the App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind regarding the accuracy of any astronomical, astrological, or religious calculation.
Different calendar/timing sources and traditions can legitimately calculate the same date's details slightly differently (for example, using different reference conventions for planetary positions), and results may not always match every other source exactly. For decisions of real significance — weddings, religious ceremonies, major life events, or any other matter where precise correctness genuinely matters — please verify independently with a qualified priest, astrologer, or traditional calendar authority. The App is intended as a convenient reference tool, not a substitute for expert religious or astrological guidance.
The App's alarm and event reminder features rely on your device's operating system to deliver notifications reliably and on time. Device settings (battery optimization, Do Not Disturb, notification permissions, or the device being off/out of battery) can prevent an alarm or reminder from firing as expected. Do not rely on the App as the sole safeguard for anything where a missed notification could cause serious harm (for example, a medical necessity). Use it as a helpful convenience, not a guaranteed safety-critical system.
The App does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on any server — see the Privacy Policy for full details. Your alarms, events, and settings are stored locally and are your responsibility to back up if you wish to preserve them (the App offers an optional, manual Backup & Restore feature in Settings for this); uninstalling the App or resetting your device will remove this data permanently unless you've made your own backup beforehand.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute, resell, reverse-engineer for competitive purposes, or claim the App or its bundled data as your own work.
We may update the App (including its bundled data range) and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to missed alarms/reminders, calculation discrepancies, or reliance on any samayam detail provided by the App for a decision of consequence.
The App is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly target or collect information from children (see the Privacy Policy). If you are under the age required by your local law to agree to these Terms on your own behalf, please have a parent or guardian review and agree on your behalf.
